HD
Simply stated Optix knows HD and how to handle a hi-def workflow. Our facility's hardware infrastructure and pipeline are laid out precisely to deal with all aspects of hi-def post-production. Since Optix entered the world of HD post in 1999 many clients have come to realize the advantages of both shooting and posting in HD. However even though the industry has become HD savvy over the years we are still repeatedly asked for counsel and advice when it comes to the various scenarios related to shooting and posting a project in HD.

It's for this reason we're often involved in the early stages of pre-productions for many of our client's projects. We're well equipped with both the experience and hardware to tackle any project. From HD offline systems (FCP and Avids) to multiple HD online compositing suites all tied into a SAN, Optix remains on the cutting edge when it comes to the latest gear. The recent addition of an HD SAN allows for multiple uncompressed video streams to be delivered to several of our suites at the same time. When deadlines, delivery and schedules become extremely tight or even unrealistic we can take advantage of this ability so our artists can work on a single project across multiple suites.

Colour Grading
In 2006 Optix expanded its post-production toolset with the addition of a dedicated colour grading suite complete with a 4:4:4 Christie HD projector supporting all hi-def and standard-def formats. Our grading theatre is furnished with trackballs and a myriad of buttons and controls but our talented team of grading artists makes it all look easy as they make your footage shine.

Design
As a full service post-production facility Design has become an integral part of the services we provide. In addition to creating sophisticated imagery and effective title treatments for a TV series or feature film design also serves as an integral part of the development process through material research, layouts, animatics, storyboarding and concept renderings. In many cases the design element is the first experience an audience has with a project and as a result it needs to be consistent with the tone and sensibilities our client's are trying to convey.

Being an active participant in the client's creative process has become a standard practice for Optix so to better serve our clientele we've improved our creative pipeline by hiving off our Design team and moving them into their newest space on the main floor of our building. This move in the fall of 2005 has demonstrated our commitment to the design process as an integral part of our client services.

Our Design team consists of our Creative Director Sam Javanrouh and Senior Artists Mike Brown and Peter Auld. They each bring a unique approach to the creative process that ensures our clients' visions are carried through to the final product.

Compositing & VFX
Our visual effects department has grown by leaps and bounds over the years and we've never been more excited about what we're able to offer our clients. Under the leadership of our VFX director Laurence Cymet a dedicated team of CG artists now hold credits from a variety of feature films and have tackled some incredibly complex and challenging CG projects. While our vfx portfolio remains quite diverse it's served to strengthen the skills and capabilities of our team who are able to deliver what our clients have envisioned in a timely manner.

3D & Animation
CG has become an incredibly valuable part of the post-production process and allows anything the client or director can imagine to be realised on screen. Optix's team of talented modellers and animators can bring any idea to life whether it needs to seamlessly blend in with live action footage or stand on its own as a unique animated creation. And besides their talent and experience our 3D department also benefits from an expansive render farm ensuring no deadline is impossible.
